Marike spent most of her life in Pretoria, where she matriculated in 2013 at Afrikaans Hoër Meisieskool. Thereafter she obtained her LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2018. After completing her studies, Marike took the opportunity to travel for a year, immersing herself in various cultures and practices from around the world. Upon her return to Pretoria, she commenced serving her articles and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in October 2023.

Marike joined the team at Rufus Derksen Inc. in January 2025, bringing her dedication and global perspective to the firm. Marike currently works in our litigation department.

Outside of her legal career, Marike has a passion for cooking and spending time in nature, particularly hiking and exploring the stunning landscapes of the Western Cape.
